Microsoft Invites VoxVue CEO to
Discuss BizScape in Business-Intelligence Webcast
Innovation, Startup and Venture (ISV)
Show Highlights BizScape’s Role in Growing Market for BI
Tools
September 3, 2004, Waltham, MA. VoxVue
Corporation announced today that CEO John Morey has participated
as an invited guest in Microsoft Corporation’s Innovation,
Start-Up and Venture Show. The ISV show, which provides information
about where Microsoft wants to drive innovation in the marketplace,
is specifically designed to guide Microsoft technology partners
in their product development efforts. The BizScape discussion
focused on Microsoft’s commitment to address the burgeoning
need for better business-centric analytic tools, both by partnering
with software vendors and by continuing internal product development.

“I was honored that Microsoft chose
to showcase BizScape software in an event intended to show the
world where the BI software-development community should be heading,”
said Morey. “There are a lot of start-ups out there, but
what we’re doing is truly unique. Unlike conventional BI
tools, which only take historical and/or current information to
show an enterprise where it is, BizScape adds soft data like stakeholder
intelligence, the perceived value of strategic relationships and
market research, and lets companies visually model the options
for where they want to go. Among other things, I think that our
3D approach to data visualization and modeling helps us stand
out.” That sentiment was echoed by Microsoft Innovation
Evangelist and ISV program host Larry Gregory, who concluded that
“it certainly does give you a whole different perspective
when you see the data not in a tabular form, but you can model
it and view it in a 3D way. When I first saw the demo I was very
impressed.”
“One of our main product requirements
from the beginning has been that BizScape work seamlessly with
Microsoft tools,” added Morey. “My discussions at
the ISV show demonstrated that it was a good strategic decision
and that we’re absolutely on the right track. The work we’re
doing is dovetailing perfectly with market needs and Microsoft’s
development direction. That’s also consistent with the comments
of Microsoft’s Gregory, who confirmed that “business
intelligence is an area that Microsoft is investing in.”
And according to Linda Quarles, a Microsoft Marketing Manager,
the growing market for BI tools hasn’t been ignored by the
investment community either. “The number of Business Intelligence
companies receiving VC investment has risen consistently over
the years,” said Quarles. “Fifteen business intelligence
companies received funding in the first quarter of this year alone.
These companies raised on average $5 million in the current round,
and $16 million to date.”
The ISV show can be viewed in its entirety
on the Microsoft Website.
